I want to find my way into the dark brotherhood first. Start out the game as a man who has low morals, but as I progress further in game- Join the more respected factions such as the legion, and become a contributing member to society. Haha...either that or just find that I like fighting guards more than helping them..

It is interesting whether or not we can join the Legion and as Algerinsaid I don't think the Empire has collapsed completly, so the Legion would still be there. They maybe weaker compaired to what the where in the Oblivion Crisis but they are still alive and kicking. But correct me if I'm wrong hasn't Skyrim seperated themselves from the Empire? So IF the Legion is in Skyrim if at all they would have a very small part in the whole story of the game.

Thats just my opinion I would like to here what others think though.
