From Allvis the Hunters "On Hunting and Adventuring"

1- Always be prepared.
You never know when you might need that torch, lantern oil, Colovian Fur Helm, Luminus Corpus cap, Garlic, silver dagger, regular dagger, extra arrows, extra bolts, spare blanket, 2x4, stash of books, maps, extra water Booze, hunting knife, Horkers tusk, fishing line or any other various items. SO always bring as much as you can, and be creative with how you use them!

2- Don't take chances
Why charge wildly into battle when you can plan everything out beforehand? Planning is especially important when hunting monsters. The hunter who poisons his arrows, sets traps before hand and can outnumber the monster(s) 3 to 1 is going to be the hunter who lives to see the next day.

3- Booze.
You need booze. It warms in the cold Skyrim air and loosens hard lips. Carry as much of it with you as you can.

4- Study
Yeah, Yeah, Big Allvis the Nord don't know how to read! Whatever. Listen, between you and me, study is the most important part of adventuring. Read up on the local area, it's myth, legends and rumours. Make a few friends and find a guide to show you around. In the long run, this will all pay of.

5- Practice
This may sound odd, but there once was a time when I wasn't as good with a bow an couldn't take as many hits to the face as I can now. Find what you are good at, and get good at it! Whether it be swinging a sword or axe, hitting a target with an arrow or frying your enemies with fire just get good at it! With training and practice comes skill, and with skill comes victory.

6- Be Faithful
Drink as much as you want, sleep around and get in as many bare-knuckle fist-fights as you want, as long as you are always faithful to the Nine. The Nine guide and protect us in ways we do not even understand. Those that remain faithful will find that their arrows fly straighter, their swords cut deeper and their ale stays down longer.

8- Avoid the number seven
Trust me on this one. All the luck in that number was used up long ago.

9- Maintain good company
I'm not saying to keep company with people who are strictly good, but with those you can count on. Having good company means that the day your house get's raided by thieves is the day you have a dozen strong warriors to help find the little creep and smash him to a pulp.
