The whole reason why the Dark Brotherhood split off from the Morag Tong is because the Morag Tong abandoned worship to Mephala because they were a bunch of wimps scared about the repercussions of their murder! They begged to the demi-god Vivec for protection. Now that he is dead, and your homeland is in ruins, I'd say you have no strength at all!

It is true that the had for a long time given the appearance of worshipping Vivec, but still had a statue of Mephala in their guild hall. However, historical records show that the Morag Tong in the first era in fact worshipped Sithis much like the Dark Brotherhood does to this day.¹ The Dark Brotherhood are the ones upholding ancient tradition and the Morag Tong are the ones who change faith and allegiance when under political pressure. Your reference even mentions that we're around, though it only tlaks about the spread during the Second Era. And heck, we still have Solstheim. Morag Tong agents will track their targets across Tamriel. A simple example is that of the Mehrune's Razor ordeal. The agents failed, but we're still more determined than most Dark Brotherhood agents. We're simply, heh, 'a cut above' if you will.
